I got an invite to Google Wave a little while ago and messed with it some but didn’t really have a good use for it until recently. I just started my Senior Project class and figured we could try and use Google Wave to get some things together. After inviting everyone we started to play with Wave and it is Awesome! The interface is fairly easy to use and even though it’s in Beta (what do you expect from Google) it is surprisingly useful. It also allows you to add extensions to provide more capabilities such as Video conferencing, Voice conferencing by calling everyone and getting everyone together, and even emailing everyone when a new message has been posted. All in all this new Google project seems to be a nice group collaboration tool. If you would like an invite go ahead a leave a comment and I’ll send you one.

So often when you are trying to help a friend out with some problem on their computer you run into problems. Most likely the problem ends up being that they can’t find, or get, the information you need. However I have found two great completely free solutions to that problem.

The first, www.SupportDetails.com, is a convenient way to get all the information you need about their web browser. It even has a email form setup so they can email you the information straight from the site.

The second, www.TeamViewer.com, is a easy to use remote desktop application. All they have to do is go to the site, download a executable file, run it, and give you the Session ID and Password. This software doesn’t even require them to be an administrator!

These two things could prevent a real big headache when you need to get information that can be difficult to lead someone to.
